Recycled Water Vegetable Washing Station |
Elizabeth got tired of running hundreds of gallons of water down the drain. She said she needed some way to recycle the water back to the garden. So this is my project for the week, although it only took me about an hour to make. The bottom is a stock tank set on a pallet so I can move it around with the fork lift. There is a hose connected to the drain. We hook it to a soaker hose and let it drain into the garden.
The top is just a 2x3 frame with a roll of plastic fencing which I crown stapled to the frame. There are blocks set just inside the top to keep it from moving and also make it easy to remove for cleaning. There will be a lot of dirt from the vegetables that will settle to the bottom and have to be removed on a regular basis.
I have also added a bracket to hold the hose in place so that we can have both hands free. |
