Grilled Salmon
EVERYTHING taste better on the BBQ. Especially that first few of the year. Grilling salmon is very easy and a great way to get your fish portion for the week.
Servings: 4
Prep time: 5 min
Cooking time: 8 to10 min ±
Utensils: BBQ grill, serving dish, large spatula, tongs
- Salmon filet - skin on - about 6 to 8 oz per person - 4 people about 1½ to 2 lbs
- olive oil
- 1 lemon
- sea salt
- fresh ground pepper
- Montreal Steak Seasoning - or any herb blend
Directions
Start the BBQ grill. Coat both sides of the salmon with olive oil. Place on plate skin side down. Cut the lemon into wedges, save 4 for the plate and squeeze out the remainder on the fillet. Sprinkle with sea salt and fresh pepper. Put a liberal coating of Montreal Steak Seasoning on the fillet. Grill skin side down with the lid closed if you have one. The time really varies depending upon your grill, lid, gas or charcoal and the thickness of the fillet. I use a very hot gas grill with the lid closed. Most of the time it is done in 8 to 9 min. I previously flipped mine to put a nice grill make on the top, however I have quit doing this because it cooks fine from one side and most of the time the fish sticks and you will end up tearing the fillet. Which defeats the purpose of making a decorative mark on the top. Gently roll the fillet over on a plate and slip a sharp paring knife under the skin to remove it, the carefully flip back over to serve. Decorate with lemon and fresh parsley or on a bead of rice.
Alternative Recipe Ideas
-
- Italian Seasoning or almost any pre-packaged dried herb mix goes well on salmon. Even the steak and chicken seasonings.
- BBQ sauce is great on salmon.
- Just plain salt, pepper and lemon.
- Mix a little gourmet mustard in the olive oil.
