Turkey Sausage Recipe

This was developed for Alpha-gal allergies. What is Alpha-gal? These turkey burgers are so tasty and easy you will be looking forward to a big BBQ, you just can't beat a big juicy burger.

Servings: 4     Prep time: 10 min     Cooking time: 8 to 12 min
Ready to eat in: 20 to 30 min
Utensils: Mixing bowl, plastic gloves, hamburger press if you have one, BBQ grill or skillet, spatula

Turkey burger
1 lb ground turkey
1 to 2 tsp Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning - to taste
1 clove garlic - minced
½ tsp salt
½ tsp fresh ground pepper
3 green onions - chopped
½ tsp cumin
2 tsp olive oil
3 tbl BBQ sauce + more for brushing if desired

Directions

Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and knead until mixed well. Form into four balls and press out into patties. They cook better if they are on the thin side. Because you need to cook turkey longer than beef it tends to be dryer, this is why I like to add the olive oil and some BBQ sauce to the mix. Turkey tends to fall apart easier than beef. I suggest cooking well on one side so that it bonds together before flipping to finish the other side. Grill brushing with more BBQ sauce if desired.

Alternative Recipe Ideas

  • Add diced red and green peppers.
  • Add a little liquid smoke.
  • Use as a substitute for ground beef in chili or spaghetti.
