Grilled Onions

If the taste and smell of grilled onions makes your mouth water, this one will for sure. We make one of these grilled onions almost every time we BBQ. Yum Yum

Servings: open     Prep time: 10 min     Cooking time: 20 min ±
Utensils: BBQ grill, tongs, foil wrap

Grilled Onion
Onions - red, yellow or white
Rosemary - fresh sprigs
Butter or olive oil or Earth Balance spread
Salt & pepper

Directions

These take a few min to cook depending upon the size of the onion, so I usually put them on the grill while it is warming up so that they will be done at the same time as the meat. (gas grill) Cut both ends off of the onion and remove the outer layer. Cut wedges in onion about ½ way down. Place on a square of foil. Fan the sections open a little, salt & pepper the onion, press a good tablespoon of butter into the knife marks from cutting the wedges. Push several sprigs of fresh rosemary into the wedges. Wrap tightly in the foil and grill until tender. About one half of an onion per person or use small onions and give each guest their own foil wrapped onion.
